The Medieval Chronicle's mission is two-fold:

enrich the reader's knowledge of the medieval, Tudor & Elizabethan periods

and aid authors (aspiring and published) in their own writing and research.

Your article is to be enlightening as well as entertaining.

GENERAL INFORMATION

1. At present, The Medieval Chronicle (TMC) contains six Columns (each with a recurring theme), at times a re-print of an article that was first published in TMC in the 1990s and one or more Feature articles.  All of the Columns are scheduled at present.  The Feature articles are by published authors and highlight an event or person from the time period that TMC covers.

2.  The publisher of TMC reserves the right to edit submitted articles for clarity or content provided the edits are in line with your research sources.

3.  Authors are encouraged to read past newsletters to become familiar with formatting and style.  Please keep in mind the emphasis must be on your chosen topic and not a brief summary of your book.

4. To have your article coincide with the publication date of your novel, please give as much notice as possible. If we are unable to print your article concurrently with the month your book is released, we will be happy to print your advertisement at that time and your article at a later date along with a reference to your book.

5. Articles are due two months before the publication date. The publication dates are the seventh of February, April, June, August, October and December of each year.

6. In lieu of payment, we will link your books to Amazon.com in your BIO as well as linking to your website. Every effort will be made to provide the reader with access to your books.

7. Submit articles via email as either the body of the email or as a MSWord attachment.  Email your article to Linda@TheMedievalChronicle.com.

8. All facts must be supported by your research sources.  Bibliographic information should include: title, author, date of publication and URL (if available).  We would prefer that the research sources be included with your submission of the article.

FOCUS OF YOUR ARTICLE

The focus should be on a particular aspect of your novel.  Previous articles have been about Vikings, the Anglo-Saxons, The Knights Templar, Laws and Marriage, Byzantium, Female Knights, games and pastimes... just to mention a few.  You may also chose to tell of the political or religious climate during the period your book takes place. The list is endless!  Again, please keep in mind the emphasis must be on your chosen topic and not a brief summary of your book.

INCLUDE WITH YOUR ARTICLE THE FOLLOWING

1. The title of your book, publication date and the publisher.

2. A sentence or two about the book you're currently writing, even if it's not within the timeline TMC covers, along with your brief bibliography and a link to your website.  This will appear at the end of your article.

COPYRIGHT STATEMENT

All published articles become the property of The Medieval Chronicle unless requested otherwise. Your request must be in writing and presented along with your article.  The following Copyright Statement explains how you may use your article after publication:  The Medieval Chronicle is copyrighted as a whole and does not require authors to transfer their copyright ownership to TMC. Permission to copy without fee all or part of only your article that was published by TMC without a copyright notice is granted, provided that the statement "Published in www.TheMedievalChronicle.com" and the publication date appear on each copy. You will also need to let the publisher of TMC know when and where you will be using the article.

QUOTES FOR PROMOTION OF YOUR BOOK

The Medieval Chronicle would consider it a privilege and an honor to be asked to provide a quote for your forthcoming book.  Publishers have used quotes given by TMC on their authors book covers (front, back and inside!) and the authors have used the quotes in their promotional material.  Please ask your publisher to provide TMC with an advanced reading copy of your book or you can send the ARC.  The quotes will be sent to both you and your publisher. Please email me at Linda@TheMedievalChronicle.com and I will be happy to given you a mailing address.

UNSOLICITED ARTICLES

To summit unsolicited articles please contact the publisher at Linda@TheMedievalChronicle.com with your article idea, a sample of your writing and your biography. You will be contacted upon receipt of your article and notified if and when your article is approved for publication.
