atherine Parr had plans to marry—but not to Henry VIII. Two times previously married to much older men of her mother's choosing, the third time was to be for love. But her plans were derailed and in July 1543 she became the sixth wife of Henry VIII.
Katherine did not want to be Queen of England—what woman in her right mind would? Having spent the majority of her life in and around Henry's court, Katherine knew she had no choice but to accept and pray that she did not lose her head in the process.
Court life was not easy but Katherine made the best of what she had been given. Being raised Catholic did not stop her from being sympathetic to the Protestant Reformation. At times her heart seemed to over-power her head in religious matters and in 1546 the Bishop of Winchester) and the Lord Chancellor tired to use her Protestant sympathy to their advantage and to turn the king against her. They convinced Henry to issue an arrest warrant.
They were unsuccessful. But why? Her reprieve reads like fiction yet it is true.
